Saomao’s golden silk is organic and ecologically produced in villages in northern Cambodia where sericulture and weaving have remained unchanged for centuries. Our pure silk scarves are hand loomed from ecologically produced silk threads from the native silkworm.
No chemicals or pesticides are used in cultivation because they poison the fragile silk worms, Furthermore, no mechanisation is used in the weaving process due to the irregular makeup of the thread. The weaving process requires highly skilled and labour-intensive methods to produce and the quality of the silk is extremely strong and hard wearing. some say they carry a special energy from the weaver that has created it.
